The art of pottering
One of life's pleasures, in my humble opinion, is pottering in and around the home.
I'm very fortunate where I get to be a homemaker because my partner is willing to take on the responsibility of being the sole provider.
Now that doesn't mean I laze around all day, quite the opposite actually.
Between maintaining our home to a standard I'm pleased with and proud of, raising our children and soon homeschooling, shopping and cooking all our meals, keeping our gardens and perhaps in the future an allotment with chickens going, it is quite the day.
But there are moments in between these moments where I get to potter, gloriously so.
Pick flowers from my garden and make a bouquet for on the table, declutter a spot and make it feel manageable again, bake a cake that we'll enjoy together with some tea, switch out some art and make the livingroom feel brand new, you get the idea.
Simple things that bring me back to myself again so I can maintain the rest of my responsibilities with a bit more ease are essential.
And showing my kids there is peace and enjoyment in the little things feels pretty important as well.
Finding contentment in picking our homegrown fruits, a freshly made bed to return to after a long day, making our house a home and feeling really happy there are what I consider the luxuries in life.
And if all it takes is a little pottering on my side, I'll potter away all day!
